Two activities combined: canyoning and Gouffre river descent

This package offers two sought after activities on the Charlevoix tourist activity circuit :

  • a 3 hour canyoning excursion at la Chute à Cimon in Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive
  • a 12 km descent of the Gouffre river in a recreational kayak at Baie-Saint-Paul

Your canyoning excursion at la Chute à Simon is on DAY 1. Three daily departures for the 12 km descent of the Gouffre river in a recreational kayak the next day will give you flexibility to schedule your action-packed holidays.

Discover

New on the list of open air activities, canyoning consists in hiking down a wilderness canyon using ropes. Equipped with a helmet and a neoprene suit, you will experiment the pleasure of coming down a vertical water cascade on a rope, amidst a spectacular landscape.

Chute à Cimon
Our professional canyoning guides will take you on an aquatic, vertical journey in a fault created by the Charlevoix meteor impact. A unique experience combining adventure and geological discovery.

Rivière du Gouffre
The Gouffre river is still a wild salmon river, ideal for recreational kayaking. We offer a self-guided excursion for all, combined with a shuttle service. Several routes dotted with easy whitewater sections are offered to beginners, families as well as to more experienced paddlers.

Difficulty level
Accessible to all, it is an initiation for all to those who have never rappelled down a rope. A practical demonstration is made before the descent. It is not escalade, but the descent in an aquatic environment will pleasantly surprise even experienced rock-climbers.

Camping du Gouffre descent (12 km)
From Camping du Gouffre to the Baie-Saint-Paul wharf

Difficulty level
Easier route, with some fun whitewaters to discover the river's challenges. For beginners.

From 1 1/2 to 3 hrs (depending on the water level)

2 Departures daily. Participants must arrive 15 minutes before departure time to get prepared.

Booking

Email reservation requests (reservations@katabatik.ca), as well as those submitted using the form included below will be processed quickly. Leave us both your evening and daytime telephone numbers, and we shall call you to complete your reservation. Reservations must be confirmed by credit card with a 50 % deposit of the total amount.

Cancellation policy

  1. In case of cancellation by Katabatik for reasons of security related to weather conditions:

    • A new reservation is made at the customer's convenience;
    • If it is impossible for the customer to make a new reservation, the excursion is cancelled free of charge.
    • The decision to cancel made by Katabatik always takes place at the starting point and departure time of a given activity.

  2. For reservations cancelled by the customer:

    • You can modify or cancel your reservation free of charge up until noon (12 p.m.) the day before the activity.
    • For any cancellation made after noon (12 p.m.) the day before the activity, the 50 % deposit is not refundable.
